Pokemon Sun and Moon

.......THE ANIME!

I always liked the pokemon style and also the character designs in the anime. However, with the new Pokemon Sun and Moon anime, this might change.

I bet many People hoped to see an Ash and Pikachu travelling trough Alola and challenging Gyms. However, instead of doing so Ash finally decided that a school graduation wouldn't be a bad idea so he decides to visit school in Alola. The idea of changing the usua story scheme itself is not bad, to be honest. It could be a new interesting experience and offers room for new development and ideas.


HOWEVER,
the reason why I wanted to talk about this is because of what they did to Ash and the art style in general. We all remember the classic Pokemon style which has only changed a little within the generations yet all in all, it kept it's personality. Changes are nice yet changing an art style from a highly popular series which has been out there for around 20 years can be dangerous. Sure, Pokemon has never had a very high quality if it comes to animation itself but still, it had it's charme.

That's why I wonder why they decided to go from this.....

What the HELL happened to Pikachu and Ash???
Ash looks about five years younger in this style and Pikachu is creeping me out While the style itself is not exactly bad I have to mention that again, it is a dangerous thing to change the art style of such an iconic series. Not to mention that this style doesn't really fit Pokemon in my eyes. The new artstyle appears like an extreme loss in quality compared to the original style. I mean, look at the backgrounds and the flatness of the characters.



While other characters might look OK in this style, Ash himself looks hella horrible to me and it hurts my sould to see him like this, to be honest.

I mean really? REALLY?
At least Team Skull seems to work in this style but Ash surely doesn't. Why couldn't they have used the Pokemon Generation's style? Leans on the original style AND has a damn fine quality. Since they kind of messed up the main character, I'm a bit scared of seeing Jessie, James and Meowth in this art style. May they have mercy upon them.
